2010 Vintage on track

The 2010 vintage is looking on track to be a cracker. Plenty of rain
throughout the summer has ensured that the vines have required virtually no
manual watering at all, with the tanks close to full capacity.

Verasion occurred in the past two weeks, so the vines are fully covered with
the nettings. The grape bunches are large and plentiful.

As for the 2009 vintage, whilst small is looking to be pretty good. Stay
tuned for more news on its release soon.

2009 crop all picked!

On Sunday 22nd March, the pinot noir was picked - about 50kgs in total (we estimate a further 13kgs would have been eaten by birds!). Baume was high 13.5, but the ph was also high (3.0). Ended up being about 25 litres.

On Sunday 29th March, the cabernet and shiraz were picked. About 100kgs in total. Baume was 12.5, and ph about 3.0.

Should be a good year, even if it is on the acidic side.

Snow on them there hills

Dale called me on Sunday evening to announce that it was snowing at The Shack!!! This happens maybe once every few years - what a sight to behold!

David also took this photo that very morning. It shows Tabletop Road covered in snow. Awesome!

Welcome!

Welcome to the Tabletop Cottage Winery Blog Spot. I have been meaning to update the Tabletop webpage for years, until I recently discovered that setting up a Blogspot would be far easier!

This blogspot will serve to keep you all informed on the Tabletop Winery front, including current vineyard status, upcoming events, recent tastings, and other general news.

Enjoy!
